Urgent! Problem in Changing Thermostat.

I am sure that I am use a six sided socket.
But do not know why it hurts the nut. it deformed pretty bad at the 2 sides.
but the others are only minor deformed.
I dare not to try it again.

by the way, I located the leakage. It is the thermostat.
Maybe I need to find a mechanic tomorrow.
