Go to a self-serve car wash with "degreaser" as one of the choices. Open the hood and spray Simple Green on the thick oil and grease. Let the manifold cool down and then start the wash, spraying degreaser all over the engine compartment. Then rinse. You will probably have to repeat this with a brush to remove the real thick deposits remaining. Drive the car to dry it out.
