Please, help with ECC 700 1986

Any chance of plugging or clamping lines until you isolate the problem? As I view the diagram for the ECC unit (complex!), most of these lines lead in and out of the solenoid valve control unit near the vacuum reservoir. By selectively cutting these out, perhaps you would have a shot a pinpointing the problem. OR make a listening device from a hose and try to find the hiss.

My 940s are all MCC, which is Russian in its simplicity and ruggedness.
