B230FT head disassembly, any tips? Also spring compressor question.

Well, I have my all data CD and my haynes and the operation seems
straight forward. Is it just that? I'd rather get a free rental on a
valve spring compressor and do it all myself[see next question below...]. I had this head rebuilt about 10 miles ago (not kidding, it was on my old motor. I know the piston and valve made contact and i am porting, want to tear it apart for inspection and to fully port the int/exh ports). I'd rather save a
hundred or more, and do it mself. Will the basic valve spring compressor
work ok or should i got to the shop who dropped the new motor in and work
in there?

Well, the free loaner valve spring compressors from the local auto supply
apparentyl doesn't work [??] on non pushrod equipped motors according to the shops. Is this true, i was really under the assumption that a normal valve spring compressor would work? Anyone on the list been told the same ? Anyone
know where I can get a ngood valve spring compressor? IF I can't get one
locally, i'll just try and borrow one from a shop i know of but i'd like
to get one near by...

Any tips on disassembly or if they are lying about the valve spring compressor?

Thanks

Dan
