Agreed-
I had the same problem, and a new Volvo t- stat cured it. The thermostat in a b18/20 can divert the entire radiator flow, unlike many other cars, so the engine should warm up even in the coldest weather.
Also, unlike many other cars, when the t- stat fails, it seems to fail open, not closed. Which, I suppose, is a good thing....
