After a sleepless night, I need some input on the subject of whether I should buy a 1987 Bertone or not. This car has 162K a very good body and paint, no missing interior trim and no apparant leaks underneath. The driver's seat has a one inch separation in a seam and the burled trim has (iguess) the usual cracking. BUT--it is a six cylinder (B280?)the owner says the transmission (AW71?) makes a "growling" noise, it won't start because of a "fuel pump problem" , needs a right side turn signal lens, the AC belt is missing and the AC "doesn't work". The fog light lenses are gone but all the plastic air dams, tow hook door, etc are in good shape. The engine is full of (fairly dirty)oil and I really don't know about how "religiously" the oil was changed ( I helped recam an 84 760 once and don't care to go through that again). The windshield needs to be replaced. HOWEVER, this could be a nice car and the owner will sell it for $500. Would I be a fool to pass it up--or a fool to buy it? I would really appreciate any comments anyone cares to make. Thank you in advance. Steve Lambert
