vent control and recycling air ability lost!

i have an 89 760T wagon, and not too long ago i lost the ability to control which vent the air came out of. it always come out of the windshield and feet area only. then , recently, my recycling air button no longer turned red when i push it, and i think that is no longer functional as well. i am under the impression it has something to do with the vacuum motors, but where are they, and how do you do maintenace on them?
