Hi,

Glad to hear back that you found the DEEPER problem!

Just help in mind that the original parts that came with the USED car are just that, well used!

Keep it up and you will turn this car back into what has been proven to be a fundamental well thought out mass production car design!
Over the many years, a lot of things came together to keep this base line of simplicity and cost to maintain vehicle.

Today’s cars are JUNKED up with unneeded complexity of experimentations. This is at a consumer cost of maintainability that definitely makes them into JUNK!
The internal combustion engine has been EXHAUSTED to find more tricks for a long while.
Variable valve timing and super shifting transmissions are the final gasps to increase efficiency.
The century of pain and worry is ending soon, finally!
The simplicity’s of electricity to be used in tomorrow’s transportation future will prove this out if boiled and kept down to the basics like the 240 was.

I thank those many previously Volvo owners for given up their fine cars and playing that other game that has been ON!
The 240’s have bridged me this far and I have not wasted at least a couple hundred thousand of dollars over 60 years to carry my carcass to point “B.”
I started on bicycles but I don’t pilot an airplane because that requires more than balance, off the ground.
When you go up there, it’s only you, that’s going to get you back down!

I thank you for willingness develop your skill sets to save this car!
It will help you to meet the upcoming waves of change and to see the basics needed.
As this world goes, it’s only as complicated as we make it!

Phil
