I'm really sad to hear this.
I've appreciated his comments/advice/experience as long as I've been visiting this forum.
I also feel fortunate to have met him, if only for an afternoon at the end of April when I drove out west. The same afternoon that I realized that I was going to be going through Oklahoma and passing within a hour of Bartlesville, I found his number on the internet, cold called him, explained who I was (from B'board) and asked if he'd mind if I stopped by for a visit. He said "Sure!" and so I made my way west off I44. We chatted a bit, and then he and his wife and I went out to have supper at a Mexican restaurant.
When we returned to their home, George and I went out to his garage and he showed me his "culch heap", and his 164, etc. We talked Volvos for awhile and then I headed south to Tulsa.
He wrote me a couple of weeks later asking if I would come back through when I head east to give him a hand swapping motors in one of his cars. I wasn't sure when I was headed east, but told him I'd keep in touch.
RIP George. Glad I got to meet you.
