From what I have seen on this board, and my conversations with other owners (including a 544 owned by a dealer) this is a fairly common problem.
The other posters have covered this topic well.
With my PV, a hard brake application early in a ride settles the brakes down quite a bit, and I notice that the longer the drive, the less the pulling gets. This makes me suspect contamination in my case. I have not overhauled my brakes yet, so I cannot really tell you what my case is.
Personally, I think that disk brakes have spoiled us a bit, and we have little to do with them until they are worn out.
Drum brakes, especially leading-shoe brakes need far more attention than disks.
