Time to replace the front struts 200 1993

I'm about to replace the front strut cartridges.
Price I was quoted for parts is anywhere from
$ 49 - $ 140 each.
What are the better brands, and where can I get them ?
Also, I would appreciate any tips on how to do this job.
I have done this on some front wheel drive cars in the past.
