bit of stupidity, IAC and TPS question 200

I have been fighting an idle problem on my 84 and now it seems IAC related, I have replaced it before so my question is what color are the wires going to the iac? as opposed to the tps? Therin lies the stupidity, I might have got them switched.... the connectors are the same and I have had the throttle body off. Next question.... possible damage by running with them switched? Ideas? comments? laughter?
