Electric wire 700

I had to mend the 2 wires leadind to my fan blower motor so I could replace the 2 metal connectors.Since I didnt have the same type(gauge) of wire I used what
I had which is much thinner(black wire for the grouding of the antenna). I dont know anything about wire sizes...
Well the motor runs! My question is: Am I gonna have any kind of problem since I used a thinner wire? Where can I learn about wire gauge?
