noise coming from b/n engine and transmission. maybe. 700 1990

This probably needs short intro to suggest I might have repaired smth but broken another - no idea what. Went to the mechanic for checkup of the volvo. He recommended engine mount, tran mount, timing belt, engine general maintenance repair at almost the cost of my car. Decided to do myself. lif is not the same again. Only previous experience on car work was installing seat covers+vacuming. Changed the timing belt. Car worked fine for next 2 weeks of driving. Engine mounts arrived. Lifted up the engine below oil pan using a piece of wood under the jack. Changed mounts. Car ran like crap. Engine would shake uncontrollably. No power as if running on 2 cylinders. Thought the engine mounts were not a good fit. Put back the old ones. Car ran like crap still. Ringing noise started. It would ring like metal ringing as the engine rotates. ding-ding. Thought the car is misfiring. That was correct - while lifting the engine the distributor cap got smasshed on the firewall. Replaced - car ran great. Ringing noise is still there. Opened the enigine thought the noise is coming from there but no. When the car is not running as I rotate manually the crankshaft clockwise hear ding-ding on every revolution. When rotating it counterclockwise noise frequency gets a little more undermined. In general it sounds like I dropped a bolt in this thing called the bell housing(?). Not sure where to look for problem. Oil pan is a little bent from lifting the engine. Could that be a problem?
