My daughter's 1995 940 wagon has been remarkably trouble free for the past 3 years, so I have been a non-existant member of this forum. Now I need some help.
My daughter's 940 stalled on her way home from school last week. It started back up immediately, but stalled again. I took it out, and sure enough, it did the same thing to me. Tach goes to "0", all the dash lights come on. Cranks right back up and runs great for a mile or 2, then the same thing happens. Over the next few days I: replaced the crank position sensor, radio suppression relay, fuel pump relay, fuel filter, checked all the fuses, checked the fuel pump, changed the mass airflow meter, and swapped out the fuel injection control unit. Plus I checked the alternator, battery, fuel pump, coil, etc. It drives like an absolute dream, until I stop. It will idle perfectly for 5-10 minutes then it just quits. No stutter, no hesitation, no bucking. It's like all the power just stops. 19 times out of 20 it has started right back up. One time, I had to wait 5 minutes.
I took to my independent mechanic, who replaced a disintergrated tee fitting and checked all the relay connections. The car appeared to be fixed- it ran for 2 hours without cutting out. BUT, this morning, it started doing the same thing. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to get all the details in.
Thanks
Philc
