Like most newbie’s, the first thing that I noticed about Betty was the oddly placed mini grills. My first assumption was that they were some "high performance" air intakes. After a quick look I realized that they were not, I'm a chump and the honk was revealed. Well after some digging, again like most newbie’s, I found some Euro models with the fog lamp inserts and immediately wanted them. Coincidentally that same day, I saw a set on Ebay. But these were different from the dealer photos, in Great Britain and way too much for me (final bid 186 pounds).
So I now submit a list for all new comers and for the good of mother Sweden.
Lucas made an after market version of the fog lamp inserts. They're easy to spot because they actually protrude from the hole with a chrome collar and the lamp is slightly Frenched. They were only made for a few years and are extremely hard to find.
As noted in one of the previous posts, the actual fog lamp option was not perfect. The seals were not watertight and a lot of rust was prone to the inner ring. This makes it easy to see if your 164E was originally equipped with fog lamps (if you can't decode the chassis plate). The lamps were also prone to cracking due to a lack of mountable covers for daytime use. Giving the lamps and your pocketbook too much exposure.
Also noted in a previous post, Hella makes a 5468 lamp that can fit, but takes a little arts and crafts to make it solid.
Aardvark International had this to say about a Cibie replacement:
Hello,
Thanks for your E-mail. You may want to check the dimensions of the model called the Tango (shown on our website). I believe this may be a good fit.
If you have any other questions or would like to place an order, please
let us know. I would be pleased to assist you personally.
Best Regards,

Gunther also noted that Volvo was famous for coveting patent rights and that this created a closed aftermarket.
I will be bumper mounting a set of Cibie 300FF's unless I find a suitable OS set. I've seen plenty of photos with them mounted and I think it looks good.
