Hey Folks,
As a long time 240 owner, I rarely post here in the 700 forum. However, last night I was driving by a local used car dealer that somewhat specializes in Volvos. I check this place out occasionally, but he mainly sells V70's, S70's and 850's. Saw a beautiful white 760 with a gray leather interior. Body was nearly perfect and the interior looked great too except for a little wear on the driver's seat. 133k on the clock.
Don't know a lot about identifying 700's. I believe the rear badge said 760 turbo intercooler. Don't know the year but from my research last night, I've narrowed it down to 1988-90. Don't know if this helps but car has ABS, driver SRS and dual power seats among other options.
Questions:
1. Any preferable year?
2. If I understood correctly (it was late) while going through the archives, someone mentioned that certain models, including some 760's have a higher turbo boost capability. Can anyone help me out with this? Desirable or prone to failure?
3. What about wiring harnesses and other electrical problems. Something to be concerned about?
4. Anything else I should check on this car (other than the items listed in the 700/900 FAQ) if it becomes a serious candidate for a purchase? Just beginning to think about it....
What do you think guys? Is this a car I should run away from? Some in archives said to stay away from the 760's as there is more to go wrong with them than a 740 or 940. Maybe I should I stick with my original plan of buying a nice 94 or 95 940 turbo....
Thanks to all who respond!!
