overdirve solenoid problems 200 1984

hello all, i have been trying to diagnose the overdrive on my recently aquired wagon (b23f/m46). I get a click from the relay and a click from the solenoid when the button is pushed...but no engagement. I changed the fluid with the proper type and it did not change the performance, or lack of i guess. I then would guess that it is the solenoid that need attention as i hear the seals etc can fail. upon trying to remove the solenoid i find that the hex bolt is stripped and the solenoid will not budge. are there any other things i should check?? the solenoid is a right hand thread correct?? any ideas, thoughts or even better...solutions??? thanks to all. sorry to start another overdrive thread...i could not seem to find any info that would help.
