How To Replace White Wire That Runs Between OD Solanoid & Relay? 200 1988

I got my 1988 240 up on ramps (front) and jackstands(rear). I got under the car and was just able to wiggle part of my forearms into the passenger side of the transmission. I found on the solanoid side of the white plastic connector bare wire. Problem is I cannot get my hands in there to do anything as the space is too cramped. The wire and the conduit it runs in need replacing as they are crumbling. There MUST be some easy way this can be done? Also how do I trace the wire/conduit up into the car? How do I get to the OD relay? As a side note I got moved the wire slightly away from the transmisson and replaced the red fuse last week. The car started right up with no problems. This week I went to turn over the car and it will not spark up. It turns over but no ignition. I am assuming these issues are related. Is it possible I shorted out the OD relay and this is preventing the car from starting? I am thinking about selling this car soon as I am moving and I may not be able to take it with me. I will at least like to get the car rolling so I have the option to keep it.
