I'm heading towards my mid life crisis, and decided my newly acquired '73 164 will get pimped. The seats are all ripped to pieces anyway and the interior is full of cat hair and it definately needs a paint job. So let's go all the way. But before all that happens (and I'll appreciate links to sites with pimped 164 and 144 models), I need to get a cheap battery for starting the engine every now and again and to work on it. Found and auction for a cheap remanufactured small 9 plate battery. Now the car starts just great and immediately on a DIN55 which is I think 11 plate, but just wondering if anyone knows if such a small one will also start the car OK. I will be trickle charging it, so it will be in top condition for each startup. (Keep in mind I'm in New Zealand, so advice about cheap batteries in the USA does not help much.) Temperature stays above freezing, so it just needs to turn over around room temperature and a full size DIN66 battery is not needed. Has anyone done it with a "baby" battery?
Thanks, and have fun...
