I changed the oil in my '93 945T for the first time last evening. I bought the car about 2 months ago and have just passed 90,000 miles. I noted that the coolant line that cool the oil at the filter mount looked original and that the hose nearest the block looked cracked near the top. I was not too aggressive in squeezing them, as I don't have either a spare vehicle or hose. Having read the 700/900 FAQ it seems like a good idea to change these soon.
-Will a significant amount of coolant drain on my head when these are removed?
-Can simply top off the coolant resivoir when complete?
-If just topping off, will I need to 'burp' the system?
-Should I take this as an 'opportunity' to change the coolant?
-Why do I have what appears to be a bleeder nut on one of the lines?
-My dealer quotes $30 for both hoses - I've not found either hose on Groton or IPD - does $30 seem fair?
-Replace the clamps too?
My decision to buy a Volvo was influenced by the strong grass roots and independent support these vehicles encourage - thank you in advance for the advice!
