Watch out for drive-thru lube places

Hi all. I thought I would try full synthetic oil in my 92 940T so I bought some Mobil 1 and a Fram filter. I've changed many filters in my day but have been going to Quik Lubes lately. Thought it should take 20-30 minutes to do it myself. Instead it took 2 - 3 hours and 3 different filter wrenches. I tried the end cap one and the metal strap one but I couldn't get either onto the filter, there was just not enough room between it and the intercooler lines to get them over the end. I could get a pretty good grip with my hand but couldn't budge it. I even tried the screw driver through the filter trick which made it mandatory that I get it off. I finally got it off using a nylon strap wrench with a 1/2" socket handle. The filter was on so tight that it took every ounce of strength I had to get it off and it was completely crushed. The new Fram filter went on really easy - because it was the right one. Not only had the young kid at the Quik Lube 6 months ago put the filter on with an impact wrench (or a 3' bar), but he had put the wrong Pennzoil filter on. The reason I didn't have room for the wrench is that he put on a PZ-34 instead of a PZ-104. I knew it wasn't right when I saw that it was 3/4" or 1" longer than the Fram, and that was enough. I don't know what engine it is for but I'm really lucky that it hasn't seemed to have harmed mine. Just a note of caution that whenever getting work done have the shop write down the filter number that they put in on your bill so you can check it yourself.
