This morning my wife decided to take the 245, with its studded snows( Boston area, with lots of snow left from the weekend). It would not start. Just a cough and hrmph at times. It started fine yesterday, but I had noticed a slight miss at idle a few days ago. Weather 10dF and sunny.
She took the 745, no snows, but never has failed us (377K and you'd never know it)
Codes check...212 and 311 from socket 2, fuel injection codes.
111 from socket 6, ignition codes.
212- O2 signal missing, 311 speed sensor signal missing.
Pretty strange I thought, neither of these would stop the car from working, and I would have noticed if the speed sensor was bad, no speedo, and the O2 fault should have turned on the check engine light , but it didn't.
So I erased the codes and decided to try restarting the engine to see if the same or other codes would appear.
As I cranked, the engine seemed a bit more lively so I kept it going and opened the throttle, and after about 20 seconde it started.. ran smooth.
Possibly it was flooded?
Rechecked for codes..........none.
What the heck was going on there? Do random codes set if the engine is cranky?
Doesn't bode well, my daughter uses the car for work, this would not be good if it happenned anywhere but in our drive.
Ideas welcome.
