Hello listers
I'm still stuck believe it or not.
I have a 740gl wagon, na, 1991 model.
I failed emissions and beside check everything else, including, a non functioning air box thermostat ( i stuck a stick in there to keep flap open, bc after cleaning it, i couldnt reinstall the damn little thing ), i purchased a universal 3 wire bosch o2 sensor (it actually comes up at pepboys as a porsche 944 sensor).
I've now tried i think every combination of wire hookups but i can't seem to get it right.
The volvo has a black wire and a white and red wire. The bosch has a black wire and 2 white wires.
I hooked up the black to the black and some combo of white/red to wh/wh, and guess what, my nox shot up from 1500 to 2000! Car was running good though.
I tried other combos and guess what, after starting the car, it dies shortly afterward.
The last combo seemed good until about 10 mins later the check engine light came on. So, i disconnected the engine compartment hookups and the light went out.
Car is running ok, but using gas like crazy. As for emissions, I haven't yet gotten it retested...but obviously something is wrong.
Can anyone tell me what the correct wire hookup is?
Thanks a bunch.
