Fuel Pump Relays 200 1983

Rover, my rusty/trusty 83 245 has two fuel pump relays mounted on the passenger side floor... and every now and then they don't like to work. I keep a screw driver in the car to give them a good WACK when needed, but obviously would like to replace them! Finding them hasn't been hard, IPD and my Volvo dealer carry them, but I think the cost is absurd. So here come my questions... Why does my car have two relays, and can I replace ONE of them with a larger ceramic relay out of an 85? Thanks for the advise!
