I have a 90 240 wagon with about 185,000 mile on it.
I 've had a sloppy shifter for some time and some problems I've had include the following:
- the indicator light for the position of the shifter( where it is P R D etc.)
is out of alignment of actual gear the car is in, when in reverse the reverse lights don't come on.
- I' m also occasionally having problems with the tranny not down shifting.
(when I come to a complete stop and then accelerate the car seems as though it is in 2nd gear and very sluggish)
I've checked the bushings in the linkage and replace one that was rotted out and sloppy, though I haven't adjusted the linkage itself.
The shifter is now solid but still out of adjustment.
What would need to be adjusted to get the indicator in line and would this be responsible for the downshifting problem or are they separate.
I flushed the tranny about a year ago and am a heavy driver so am going to flush again soon.
Any info on adjusting this or a possible fix would be great.
Thanks for any info.
