I recently reinstalled my 75 electronic distributor into my b18 122s. I have been getting intermittent bucking, stalling, and lack of power. If i step on the gas too quickly it loses it for a second and backfires and takes off when i back off the throttle. I believe it too be a bad pickup coil/pulse generator in the dizzy. Everything else in the ignition system checks out ok. Timing is about 30 total advance with no pinging.
Taking a reading with a DMM (digital multi meter) the resistance is around 300 ? sometimes and goes all over the scale other times, increasing almost as if it had capacitance and was charging.
Does anybody know what value the reading should be? "It should be steady at least with no rotor movement, correct?
I would like to replace the pickup with a new one but i'm unsure of how to remove from dizzy. I've removed the 2 screws that hold the plate as well as the c clip above the metal 4 pointed star and seem to be stuck.
How do i remove the metal star that rotates in order to remove the pickup? Is it permanently affixed to the shaft? Does it require the hold it in a vice trick and hammer used when disassembling a points type, or just a little more persuasion?
Much respect,
curtis m. white
