can a B280 have a manual tranny (pilot bearing)?!

Does b280 have a place in crank for placement of a
pilot bearing for putting a M-46 Transmission in
behind it? I know that volvos never offered a
stick behind this, but deloreans, eagles peugots etc
did. is the crank milled for it, or not.

If pilot recess is there, will I have any issues with
the hall sensor on the top of my bell? Can it just be
ignored, cut away etc?

history:
my 89 760 gle has a strong good motor.
the aw-71 had a complete failure, I replaced
with a good used aw-71 from pick and pull.

that was 3 years ago. present aw-71 is failing,
(it wont shift into 3rd til I hit 5500 rpm or
10 minutes of driving)

Just completed a 4 speed conversion on my pontiac
and would like to do the same with the volvo.

I saw FAQ on Converting an AW-71 Automatic to an
M46 Manual Transmission by Paul Demeo. But I need
an expert on b280 to tell whether this is an option.

The local pick-n-pull has a sale on trannys for $30
this weekend, and would rather grab a stick, than
another aw-71.

thanks for any help.
