bonehead mistake, maybe 900

I am replacing the distributor driveshaft seals. All is going well thanks to the FAQ (FYI: Steve, the link does not work from the Descriptive Details menu to the Dist seal page, when I added the letter L to the end of *.htm in the url, it worked). However, when starting to reassemble the unit, I noticed the drive tangs on the shaft drive collar are offset to one side. Not knowing if it will make a difference in how I reassemble it, I thought I would ask before I do something that will cost me wasted time. The way I am thinking is thus, does the orientation affect the positioning of the rotor? Or is there enough slop in the drive that it can be installed either way? I'm thinking the first postulate. I looked for a mention of it in the FAQ but there was none I could find. Can anyone shed some light for me? Additionally, I think an addition mentioning the removal of the drive shaft seal retainer would be a plus.
