Several months ago my 740t started stalling ocasionally. The ignition would completely cut out, quite suddenly, and it would only restart after completely shutting the ignition off for about half a minute. That usually occured with ignition fault code 1-4-4. According to the FAQ that code describes 'bad fuel injection relay, faulty wiring from LH to EZK, or bad LH module.' Checked the fuel relay, looks excellant. Then I looked at the wiring harnesses on the FI computer and the ignition computer. The FI computer harness looks like new, and it may be as the computer itself was replaced durring it's previous ownership with one from a mid 90s 940. The harness on the ignition computer did not look very good, so I hosed it down with contact cleaner and did the best I could to scrape off corrosion from the pins on the computer.
That seemed to help and I thought I had solved the problem at that point.

More recently it began to stall much more frequently. Looking around for obvious problems, I found that two of the original Volvo plug wires were not completely on the plugs. Again I thought it might be fixed as there were no more problems that day. No such luck.

Today I cleand the snot out of the ignition computer harness, cleaned the cap and rotor, cleaned the contacts to the power stage, and checked the condition of the radio suppression relay, which looks fine. I also discovered that the coil was only held by one screw. It is possible that the post closest to the side of the car has been shorting to the strut. Not sure if the top of the strut would even conect to ground though. It is still stalling, only most recently the computers are not reporting any errors. I am thinking of replacing the power stage with one from a yard tomorrow, along with some good Bougicord plug wires if I can find them. Is it possible that some kind of damage has been done to the coil or any other ignition component due to the plug wires becoming detached from the plugs? It still runs great. Thank you for any help.
