240 wagon - how to replace the shift linkage bushings? 200 1991

My car would not go into 4th gear, after reading the bill board, I re-soldered the OD relay and it worked for awhile and gave me trouble again. So I went yesterday under the car and found that the top of the OD solenoid had been crushed by the loose shift linkage.
I performed the little "mechanical surgery" on the solenoid and the car runs like a champ in 4th gear now.

I still have to fix the shift linkage. I am a complete newbie at this and was able to do the above modifications because the posts on this site were detailed.

Can someone tell me how to replace the shift linkage bushings? Is it hard to do? Does the shift need to be in a special position (neutral or park ?)Does it require special tools? What size of bushing do I need? what meterial (nylon, copper)?
I will take any advice.
Thanks
