changing the instrument panel lamp color 700 1989

I have an '89 740, and am intrested in chancing the color of my instrument panel from the usual green (and orange needles).

got the following from the FAQ:

"The dash illumination bulbs themselves are #94, a common bulb used in most dashes, and you can get several colors. I have changed mine all to red."

Now, I have changed the bulbs before, and they're not green. The green seems to be some kind of transparent film of a green color. So putting red bulbs in there would mean I get a red + green color, right?

I am a little confused.
