Slight miss/skip after changing timing belt? 700 1988

Hello everyone,
I recently changed my timing belt with the help of this forum, and it took me about three & 1/2 hours; not bad I felt for the first time.
Although all went well with no surprises, I have a slight miss/skip now and my question is: can the engine run if the belt is off maybe one cog but cause a slight miss? It starts right up everytime, but occasionally dies at idle. Running the A/C, which increases idle speed about 150 to 200 RPMS, eliminates the occasional stalling, but not the miss/skip?

Thank you,

Mike

P.S.- the previous belt did break while the engine was running, but at low rpms. (approximately 1800)
