Idiot light stay on briefly after starting 200 1987

Hey all,

I seem to have read the answer to this before, but can't find it in the archives.....but, what does it mean when the dash lights or idiot light (bulb failure, battery, etc.) stay on for like 20 seconds after the car has sat for a couple of days and slowly dim to nothing after the car warms up?
