This is for a 86 Volvo 740 Turbowagon. Two issues:
(1) The antenna does not retract when I flip the switch, nor when I turn the radio off/on. I recently had a CD player/cassette/radio installed in place of my Volvo radio/cassette. I had not tried to use the antenna switch prior to swapping the radio unit, so I do not know if the antenna retracted or not. In any event, it does not now. If the installer forgot/neglected to connect a wire that works to retract it from the radio power on/off how could I locate which wire that is and where should it be connected? If it is not related to the radio's power harness and it is in fact the motor, could a motor from a 1989 Volvo wagon replace it (I saw one in the junkyard today but wasn't certain enough about the reason the antenna doesn't retract). Also, when I do flip the switch the motor (in the rear floorboard) does not click or make any sounds as if it is "working". I looked at the two connections to it, disconnected them and reseated them just to see if it would make a difference, and of course it didn't (:
(2) The rear passenger door won't open from either the inside or the outside. If I look back at the rear door from the front door frame area I see that the rear passenger door only has four bolts to it. I also saw that the wiring harness goes inside to the metal door frame, but the wiring harness on the 1989 I looked at in the junkyard had a connecter that neatly connected/disconnected right inside the door before the frame. Mine looks like it must be behind that plastic panel (I hope). Is there a similar connecter inside of the plastic panel (like it is on the 1989), or are there wires that would need to be cut/rewired in order to remove the door while I'm having it worked on for the handle latch.
Any help and experience will be GREATLY appreciated.
