I own a 1995 960 and wouldn't trade her for any amount of $. We bought her used with 120k miles and spent major bucks on repairs ranging from the fuel regulator valve, new belts, 2 burnt heads, etc. The check engine would come on again, after spending close to $2800 in repairs. I reached a fork in the road to where I had to make a decision to either get rid of her, or get a new mechanic. Thankfully I chose a new mechanic. He kept the car for over a week, drove it home each night and discovered the problem had to be with the computer. He replaced the original computer with a used one he had & the check engine light didn't come on. He switched it out again & the check engine light came on. Long story short, it was the computer. The car runs like a dream and knock on wood, I haven't had a problem since (it's been 3 months). I checked the VIN online with a website and discovered the car was originally purchased by a leasing company and used as a rental car. I was under the impression she only had two previous owners. Needless to say I took a risk when I bought the car, but I'm so glad I did. I've found my "soul" car. This is my first Volvo and I am a woman. I never understood how men could be so passionate about a car until now...... I read the posts every chance I get, which leads me to my question; why do they call a volvo a brick?
