Help! Rough idle on start up, smooths out after warm 200 1990

My 1990 240 DL with about 135K on it suddenly started up rough one morning, but after it warmed up the engine smoothed out. The check engine light came on, so I read out the codes: 1-2-1 (faulty signal from air mass meter) and 2-1-2 (oxygen sensor signal missing). I can't believe that both of these have failed simultaneously. Does one effect the other, and if so, which? I hate to think that I have to buy both. Somebody please advise me. Dick
