240 - Is it the AMM or ECU or ??? 200 1989

Greetings! I have a 240 DL that quit running properly about a month ago. It would stall repeatedly and the only remedy seemed to be to unplug the AMM. Now I know this has been covered in earlier posts, but not quite the same situation as mine seems to be. Without the AMM plugged in the car runs relatively well. It will always start, idle and clip down the highway at 120k/hr. It does lack power out of the blocks however and is rough running especially after rain. I have been told it's the AMM, been told to clean the contacts on the ECU (240's leak around the windshield and rust up the connectors - mine seem clean) and other things. I am trying to do the right thing the first time and not buy an AMM if I don't have to ($200cdn. for a used one). Has anyone had a similar experience and could help?
