I have been tracking this 81 242 turbo on ebay. I really like this little car, but when i look up the thing in various online resourses to try and determine the power output i get stumped I find anywhere from 155-225hp. I was wondering if any 81 242 turbos came to the US with intercoolers (as this one says it has) or has the intercooler been added. Secondly what is the life expecatncey of a turbo one one of these cars? this car has 135k on it. Also what are the differences between the euro spec cars and the american ones...does the ecu simply alow for more boost? is the turbo different? compression is the same for both but are there stonger pistons for the much higher boost in euro models? In short can I put manual boost control and maybe an MSD unit in that can retard timing under heavey boost and go out and smoke this guy i know in a 96 audi s6...i mean the turbo brick is i would guess close to 1000lbs lighter and if it cranks 225hp is just as powerful....cause that would really make my day to punk that kid in a "geek mobile"....any thoughts are welcome...
