Overdrive button rattle!! 700 1989

My overdrive button doesn't appear to be seated very well inside my gearstick. It rattles around a lot (very irritating!!) and looking inside I can see two holes which look like they should have screws or something in!

What's supposed to hold the overdrive button in place? Or, what's the best way for me to secure it into position?
