My girlfriends Overdrive does not engage properly, and sometimes feels like it wants to engage when she is in other gears. I have read about the gummed up metal particle solenoid problem, and I would like to clean her's up and perform the general in car Overdrive service (filters etc.) in the hopes I might be able to make it better without removing the tranny or overdrive.

I have never worked on an OD before (I own a P210 and a 122) and I don't know what parts or tools we need. I do have an aftermarket repair manual (not very thourough). I would like to put my parts order in soon. Any information, instructions, funny stories, or disasters I should avoid would be greatly appreciated.

Also, she has a wandering idle and I am interested in any info on throttle body cleaning.
