Emergency Help needed!!!! 700

Please give me some help.

I was changing the timing belt on the 740. I was also replacing the cam seal.

When I immobolized the cam gear and removed the pulley, I found that instead of a cast nub in the key of the cam wheel there was just a rolled piece of metal.

In other words, there was a key on the pulley. The key is used to allign the pulley to the cam. But jammed in mine was a little piece of rolled metal. It looked like a spring. Is this what is supposed to be there? There are signs that my cam has rolled 180 degrees off. Wouldn't this totally mess up my timing? Maybe the scratch was there before and it's correct now. But I don't know.

ANYWAY....do I need to replace my entire cam now? Am I totally screwed? Or can I just put a new bolt like piece of metal in there to lock the cam to the pulley?

PLease help!!!!
