Hey all. Worked on my friend's '86 740ti,that had very weak brakes, it just had no "bite" and stops were weak and you had to plan for them, definitely not up to road worthyness. The pedal feels normal and does not go all the way to the floor as when there is MC failure. So I did the pads and bled the brakes, not much improvment, I bled the brakes again; marginally better, then I took the master off and bench bled it and then re-bled the brakes; better still but still weak. I know what you're thinking so I tested the check valve coming off the booster-it holds, I replaced the hose that goes to the mani (originaly still on) I thought that replacing an obviously weak hose would do the trick but the brakes are not really "there" yet.
What are my options? I know boosters rarely fail. It takes a fair amount of pressure to get the brakes to really work good, I can't really get them to lock up either, it does stop well but they're not stopping "volvo well".
Any suggestions appreciated.
