The other day I blew one the heater hoses on my '75 242. A lot of anti-freeze sprayed all over the right side of the engine compartment. I replaced all the hoses. Spent hours cleaning the engine compartment with special attention to the distributor, electrical connections and the like. Now the car starts as if the fuel pressure is low. The idle is rough unlike it has ever been. The car seems to be running "rich". A few months ago I installed a new control pressure regulator to solve a starting problem and have within the last 4 months replaced or serviced all of the injectors, seals, new connectors to all electrical components. I ran tests on all the relays, and electrial connections to the fuel system components and all appear to be functioning properly. Also checked the spark and it looks good too.
Here is what I think and I need your help to set me straight. When the heater hose busted the car over-heated (although not into the red zone. I think I may have fried the auxillary air valve or the fuel pressure regulator. Both which with bi-metal componenets could have been affected negatively by the
over-heating.
What do you think?
