Cowl Drain 200 1982

Hello,

What you see is the result of the cowl drain path being blocked. I was looking for rust spots to fix on my 82 242 when I noticed rust under the drivers side. After cleaning the area this is what it looked like.

You can trace the path of the water under the drivers rug and also some rust down on the rocker panels. What I found was the cowl drain and weep holes were cloged all along the rocker panels on both sides. The passenger side floor panels were fixed a few years ago by the local Vo-Tech so I was not prepared for what I found on the drivers side. The sad part is this should have never happened. If you lift the rugs up in the front you will find clean out plugs all along the rocker panels, directly above the weep holes. It took me about and hour to clean out both sides with a small snake and a shop vac. I patched the area up in a temporary manor until my friend can weld a new panel.

As I am finding out, most of the rust on this car came from the inside out. Do the Swed's make submarines, I hope not.

Mario
