I need your help/suggestions on what might be the problem with '93 240 when it hesitates (usually under light to medium load.) I can't tell if it is electrical or fuel... it is a complete dropout of anywhere from .1 sec to 1/2 second, but the engine idles fine and runs fine most of the time.
The first time it did this really freaked me out as it had been extremely reliable up to that time. It died completely out for about 10 seconds and lost speed from 65 down to 50mph or so... but since then the hesitations have been shorter duration. Seems to be a problem both when cold and when fully warmed up, but it does seem to happen more when the engine is cold.
I thought it needed a tuneup, and as it seemed worse during rainy periods, I replaced the distributor cap, rotor, plug wires, and coil wire. This seemed to makes things better but did not completely solve the quick dropouts...
Any suggestions? Is this a fuel pump relay problem?
The dropouts are of such short duration that it seems to be an electrical issue,
not fuel, but I am at a loss to figure it out.
I hope that you all might have had a similar issue and pass along your solution.
Thanks!
