I am almost ready to fix my loose turbo to exhaust manifold problem. I have turned the nuts a little at a time, and I don't think I have any studs that risk breaking. (one whole can of PK used, so far) I have most of the caveats studied and the parts I need located. I have two remaining questions that don't seem to be covered in the FAQ's that I hope someone can answer:
On a car with 150K miles, do I need to R&R the exhaust manifold studs? I am not cheap- I just don't want to risk breaking one off.
I have been told that it may be necessary to machine the mating surfaces between the manifold and the turbo housing. If there is no warping or major damage, can I put a gasket in there, and, if so, then where can I get one or make one?
For that matter, why did they not use a gasket in the first place?
thanks in advance
Rick
