'93 940 sedan auto transmission, ~115k miles -
When shifting into Drive, the car lurches quite a bit. The foot is firmly on the brake. I hear deep(?) clunking noise, and I've had it lurching for quite a while (a few years. Just started driving a different car, then noticed it when I went back to 940). My indy that serviced it for a few years never mentioned anything about it, which he normally does. There is lurching when shifting into Reverse, but to lesser degree. My other cars (850 and non-Volvos) don't lurch nearly as much.
Is this normal on 940? If so, what can be done to reduce this, or do I just live with it? Is this just the gears engaging, harder than other cars?
If not normal, what am I looking at for repair/replacement? Is this a sign of transmission going out the door?
Thanks.
