This one followed me home and we could not resist! 200 1990

Hello! I'm new to brickboard and wanted to introduce myself. Until 2 years ago, I always kept a 240 wagon around as reliable transportation...'82 was free, but died of rust, '84 was $900, but needed too much suspension/exhaust/etc work to pass inspection and '88 5-speed that was killed two years ago by an 84 year old lady at 98k miles. :( At that point, my wife and I bought a 1990 740 turbo wagon w/56k miles on it for her (great car, lousy brakes) and a 1988 BMW 528e for me (I have a few old Bimmers - they seem to follow me home also). Last week, my neighbor told me he was getting rid of his 1990 240 (1 owner, no accidents, 212k miles, auto, power windows, cruise control). His 1995 850 Turbo needed a brake job (Volvo quoted $1100), so we made an even trade - I paid parts and did the labor on the 850 brakes and he gave me the 240 - my wife just couldn't say no to that deal! The 240 came with complete receipts for everything since new - all service done by local Volvo dealer - regular oil and trans fluid changes, new brakes and tires. Volvo gave him a $1600 estimate for a suspension rebuild that it 'needed'. Turns out all it really needed was 1 inner tie rod and a front wheel bearing adjustment. Now it's a very solid, quiet car that runs perfect. A/C even works, but will get 1 new hose and a recharge befor the summer arrives. So, for now, I'm back into 240s. I remember now why I liked these cars - road feel is exceptional, engine has plenty of torque and they are easy to work on. Thanks for reading, MarkD in NJ
