Switching AIC plug with throttle switch plug---will this mess up anything? 700 1990

I have heard that the two above plugs are interchangible on my model and sometimes they can be hooked onto the incorrect device. I am thinking of doing this for a couple of minutes to see if it corrects an idle problem I have been working on. Will switching plugs temporarily mess up the ICU or anything else? Should I not even think of trying it? Thanks, Keith
